Why Your BA Resume Is Getting Rejected
Most BA resumes are rejected before a human reads them. Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) screen resumes for keywords before passing them to recruiters. If your resume lacks the right keywords, it is invisible — regardless of how strong your actual experience is.
This guide shows you exactly how to structure a BA resume that passes ATS and impresses recruiters.
The BA Resume Structure That Works
1. Professional Summary (3 lines maximum)
Packed with keywords. State your experience level, domain, and 3 core skills.
Example: "Business Analyst with 5 years of experience in BFSI and insurance domains. Specialist in requirements elicitation, JIRA-based agile delivery, and UAT coordination. ECBA certified, experienced working with global stakeholders across TCS and Accenture projects."
2. Core Skills (keyword-rich list)
Recruiters scan this in 6 seconds. Include:
- Requirements Engineering, BRD, FRD, User Stories
- Stakeholder Management, Gap Analysis, Process Mapping
- Agile / Scrum, JIRA, Confluence
- UAT, SQL, Power BI (if applicable)
- Your domain keywords (BFSI, Healthcare, ERP, etc.)
3. Work Experience (achievements, not responsibilities)
Bad: "Responsible for requirements gathering"
Good: "Reduced requirements rework by 35% by implementing structured elicitation workshops with 12+ stakeholders across 3 business units"
Quantify everything. Numbers make achievements credible.
4. Projects
For freshers: training projects, capstone projects, even simulated BRDs count. The project entry should include: project name, domain, your role, key deliverables, and outcome.
5. Certifications
ECBA, CBAP, CCBA, Agile certifications — list them prominently with exam date.
6. Education
Last item. Degree, college, year. Keep it brief.

The One-Page vs Two-Page Debate
- 0–5 years experience: One page maximum
- 5–10 years experience: One to two pages
- 10+ years experience: Two pages (never more)
White space is your friend. A dense, hard-to-read resume gets rejected faster than a clean one-pager.
